Our ducklings arrived last week and all of them are doing well. They are messy little things! I have them in the same brooder room with the Cornish X broiler chicks. That’s not an ideal situation, because the ducks cause such a mess with their water and chicks cause a mess with the food. But they will all go in the freezer in about 6 weeks and we really don’t have room for 2 brooding areas. So they are in together and they seem to be getting along just fine.

They’re absolutely adorable! We have baby ducks around the neighborhood but they born “wild.” It’s so cute to see them all walking behind mom.

I love to see the baby ducks in the spring too 🙂 We have mostly Mallards around here.
They are some kind of fuzzy cuteness!! I understand that duck eggs are very nutritious.
Lol 🙂 The eggs are higher in fat, but I think it’s a good fat…great for baking cakes.
Wow… I don’t envy you. We were in nearly the same situation last year. Icky Chickies and Yucky Duckies (as we call them), at the same time. Messy messy! But oh soooooo tasty later. And next year you will have totally forgotten the mess and will do it all again. Lol!

It’s funny you say the chicks make a mess with food. Our’s are pretty neat, but we notice the ducklings we have are sooooo messy with the food and water. Most of the food ends up in the water. I guess they just forget to swallow when they drink. 🙂

The chicks want to get right in the food dish and scratch the food out. Sigh. Ducklings need some water to swallow their food. For the first few days I mixed their food with some water to give them a good start and fill their little bellies. 🙂 But the chicks kept getting in the wet food and getting covered with it. Ah, the joys of raising your own baby animals!
