Muffin gift mixes ready to give to my Mom 🙂 |
My friend Audrey gave me a jar of home made Apple Cinnamon Chip Muffin Mix for Christmas last year and I loved it! She was happy to share the recipe with me, and I wanted to share it with you 🙂 This muffin mix is very versatile. You can add any dried fruits, nuts, baking chips, or other flavorings to your hearts desire. For the Apple Cinnamon Chip Muffin Mix, add 1 cup dried apple dices and 1 cup cinnamon baking chips.
Whole Grain Muffin Mix
- 2 cups unbleached flour
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 2 cups wheat bran
- 2 cups milled flax seed
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 Tbs baking powder
Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
For each batch of 1 dozen muffins:
- 2 cups muffin mix
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup of your choice of dried fruit, chopped nuts, or baking chips (chocolate, butterscotch, etc)
Mix all ingredients just until dry ingredients are moist. Batter will be lumpy. Spoon batter into greased muffin tin. Bake at 400 F for 15 minutes.
I wanted to put together some gift mixes for my Mom for her birthday. I didn’t want to use the flax or wheat bran in the mix. So I changed the recipe up a bit and came up with this alternative to the original.
Muffin Mix
- 5 1/2 cups unbleached flour
- 2 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
- 4 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 Tbs baking powder
(Follow instructions above)
I made three different versions of this mix for my Mom…Cranberry White Chocolate, Pineapple-Peach, and Triple Yummy. You can find these recipes here…Muffin Mix for Prepping or Giving.
If you would like to give Muffin Mix as a gift, just print up a pretty label, package in a mason jar or other decorative container, and top with pretty fabric, ribbon, or bow. What a nice way to give something from your kitchen that can be whipped up in about 20 minutes!
