Pumpkin Seed Soap

Mint Bath & Body Set from Pumpkin Seed Soap!

The Mail Lady knocked on my door the other day and handed me a package. I love getting packages in the mail and this one was extra special! I opened the box and was greeted by the exhilarating scent of peppermint. Mmmmmm!

Peggy, soap maker extraordinaire and owner of Pumpkin Seed Soap, sent an amazing collection of mint bath and body products for me to try. This is the same collection we are giving away on The HomeAcre Hop this week!

What a cool treat!

What a cool treat!

Included in the Mint Bath & Body Set is a gorgeous Mega Mint Face & Body Bar, Peppermint Sugar Scrub, Peppermint Body Butter, Peppermint Lip Balm, and an environmentally friendly wood Soap Deck. I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to try this collection and share my review with you!

First, let me say that the scent is wonderful…I love mint and every item in this set is oozing with peppermint. I couldn’t wait to wash my hands with the Mega Mint Bar…it left my hands feeling moisturized and squeaky clean! The mint soap felt so clean and fresh and the scent was heaven. 🙂

The Peppermint Sugar Scrub sounded amazing, so I opened the jar and scooped out just a smidgen. Using my fingers, I rubbed it onto my forehead, nose and chin. These are the problem areas of my face so I gently massaged them with the sugar scrub to clean my pores and exfoliate the dead, dry winter skin. Wow! Talk about a wake up call! The sugar scrub cleaned my pores so well and the peppermint essential oil left my face feeling cool and rejuvenated.

I gave my face a quick wash with the Mega Mint Bar to remove any remnants of sugar scrub, and opened the jar of Peppermint Body Butter. Just a touch of this rich, creamy, jar of peppermint dreaminess gave my whole face a luxurious feel. And that’s saying A LOT…because this homestead lady is no spring chicken and most lotions and creams are a real disappointment. The Peppermint Body Butter is definitely worth its weight in gold if it can make my face feel soft and supple!

My hubby Tom is rather skeptical that anything will make his hands feel better in the winter. He has super dry skin and no matter how much lotion or hand cream he slathers on his hands, he ends up with red, raw skin that looks painful. So he was a willing test subject for the Peppermint Body Butter. His conclusion? Better than any lotion or hand cream he’s tried! The body butter feels a bit heavy when you first rub it on your skin, but it soaks in immediately to leave soft, moisturized hands, feet, face…everything! So if my guy likes it, you can be sure it’s a big thumbs up for anyone!

I was feeling pretty much like I’d spent the day at a spa as I breathed deep and enjoyed the clean, uplifting scent of peppermint. What could top all this minty goodness?! Peppermint Lip Balm!

My lips are always chapped in the winter. I spend more time outside than a lot of people, so my lips and skin take a beating from the dry, cold winds. I hate using the petroleum based lip balms, but most of the other kinds I’ve tried wear off or feel weird. This Peppermint Lip Balm from Pumpkin Seed  Soaps smells wonderful and feels amazing gliding over my lips! I’m hooked! I’ll never buy Ch*pstick again!

My Conclusion?

I’ll be honest with you…I’m usually thinking about what chicks to order for spring, or when I should start my seedlings for the garden. I don’t go for for manicures and things like that. It’s a chore to go shopping for clothes (unless maybe I can get them at Farm and Fleet). I’ve never been a girlie-girl. Just not my thing!

So I don’t spend much time thinking about bath and body products. Now, you might be thinking something like ‘You sure seemed to enjoy your spa day, for such a tom-girl!’ And you are completely correct! It really is nice to take a few minutes out of your day to pamper yourself! And I can’t think of a better way to do that than to scrub, clean, and soften my skin with this great, minty fresh bath and body set I received from Pumpkin Seed Soap!

So, if you’re anything like me…pampering yourself is probably near the bottom of your to-do list. Life is busy…there are animals to feed, eggs to collect, hungry guys to feed (oh yeah, I mentioned the animals already!), snow to shovel…you get the picture.

Why not treat yourself to an all natural, American made product that will make your skin feel super clean and healthy?!

Don’t forget those friends and family members on your Valentines list! They will love the Mint Bath & Body Set, or any other product from the Pumpkin Seed Soap Etsy Shop!

Peggy, owner and creator of these awesome products, is saving the pennies she earns from the sale of her all natural line of bath and body products to fund the adoption of a little boy from Uganda. She is an amazing woman with a deep faith in doing the right thing. I hope you will consider buying all natural, American made products each time you open your wallet!

I’m just curious about what is meant by the term “homesteader” … would today’s definition of “homesteading” be somewhat akin to urban gardening?

I know my dad had a homestead when he was a kid … got the land basically free if they worked it … but does todays definition have less to do with that and more to do with taking land you have bought and trying to be more self sufficient?

That is what I am trying to do as much as I can within an urban setting where we have bylaws that prohibit having chickens and other livestock. I’m working on adding fruits and berries and improving my garden and then learning what I can do to preserve what I’ve grown.

Also planning to get a rabbit or two, though that is more for the manure to improve my garden since I’ve gone vegan for health reasons.

      Hi Lynne,
The original meaning was a person or family that laid stake to land owned by the government. They had to live on and work the land for a number of years to fulfill their ownership requirements and the land officially became theirs.

The Modern Homesteading movement is pretty much what you described…the desire to return to a simpler way of life and grow more of your own food, or hunt, and preserve it. There are lots of ways to be a ‘homesteader’ these days and there is a movement of people doing this in an urban environment too!

Sounds to me like you are a modern homesteader and didn’t even know it! Thanks for asking 🙂
