Autumn Scenes
I love the colors and crisp air of autumn. Pumpkins and golden leaves are a welcome sight after the heat of summer. It’s wonderful to pick out mums for the porch and dig holes for spring bulbs on a cool fall day. I dug the last of our potatoes and picked a handful of tomatoes and peppers that hid beneath leaves through the light frosts. All of the gourds, pumpkins, and squash have been harvested. I hope to pick all of the scarlet runner beans that dried on the vines for soup or chili this winter. There are leeks, carrots and beets hiding in the soil to pull and use as we need them. The Swiss Chard should be cut and used or frozen soon, but the kale can survive many frosts as I harvest it for dinner into the deep of winter. All of the garden beds will need to be turned and compost added as I have time.
Walking the dog and going on little excursions gives me an opportunity to snap photos of the fall scenes around our home. I hope you enjoy!
