Detoxing to Improve My Health
Every winter I get the blahs…tired, achy, and generally just feeling unhealthy. I’m sure that a lack of natural vitamin D from the sun contributes to this feeling, but I have been taking a supplement to help with that. This year the winter blahs have been accompanied by tender lymph nodes and a sore neck. So I decided it would be advisable to start a lymphatic system cleansing and detoxing regimen to get things back into normal working order.
A quick online search yielded plenty of great information that I am putting to use. Here is a quick rundown for those of you who, like me, feel that they need to detox their system and improve their health.
Every morning drink a big glass of water with unsweetened cranberry juice and ground flax seed stirred in. Follow that with another glass of water. Eliminate caffeine…this is difficult, since many of us are addicted. I only allow myself a cup of regular tea every so often as a treat rather than a morning habit. With breakfast, drink a mug of hot water with the juice of half a lemon added to it…no sugar. Throughout the day, drink water with unsweetened cranberry juice. Once or twice a day a hot cup of Detox Tea containing dandelion, licorice, burdock and fennel helps to flush toxins from the body. If you prefer, you can find capsules to swallow rather than drinking tea. Soak in a hot bath with 1/2 cup of epsom salts or baking soda added to help draw out toxins. Switch deodorant to an aluminum free formula to prevent buildup of aluminum in your system.

I also started eating more veggies and made a conscious effort to eliminate processed foods from my diet. This is pretty much how our family eats anyway, but it doesn’t hurt to take a good look at the foods you eat each day and up the intake of raw fruits, veggies and whole grains, lean meats, pasture raised eggs, and fish…and dump the processed foods with bleached white flour and refined sugars.
This is intended as a maintenance regimen rather than treatment for any disease. If you are not feeling well, by all means, go see your doctor before you start a diet or natural treatment program! Pin It
