Turkey Eggs & The HomeAcre Hop #106

Turkey Eggs!
One of my Narragansett turkey hens has started to lay eggs! Woo hoo! I was very excited to start finding these little treasures in the chicken coop this past week. The first one was oddly shaped and I didn’t save it. However, the last two are perfectly shaped so I labeled them with the date of collection and placed them in an incubator with hopes that they’re fertile. We’ll see about that. The tom seems more interested in chickens than in his beautiful hens!
Soon our chicken eggs will be hatching. I can hardly wait to see how many chicks we’ll have from the 64 eggs. I’ve candled some of them and I can see blood veins and some of the embryos are moving enough for me to see. Even my 19 year old son thought that was kinda cool. ![]()
