Dreaming of Spring & The HomeAcre Hop #104
Dreaming of Spring
For the past week we’ve had a wonderful break from our typical January weather. With temps in the high 20s and 30s, I’m feeling a little spoiled! I wasn’t able to get all of my January Thaw plans carried out, due to a stomach flu interruption, sigh. But I did get the chicken coop cleaned out and the young ducks are now moved out into the main coop to make room for the chicks expected to hatch in about two and a half weeks.
The January thaw also encouraged me to dream about the coming spring weather and I’ve been working on my plans for this year. Our local feed store has their chick order information out now and I’ve been drooling over the poultry selection. I’ve never ordered through them before, having placed most of my orders directly through hatcheries. But ordering from the feed store allows me to pick out just a small handful of chicks, and I really don’t need many. One could , perhaps, make a case that I don’t need to order any poultry at all! But who wants to be sensible all the time?!
