Ack…don’t take my picture!

Welcome to The HomeAcre Hop

The Thanksgiving leftovers were gone and a few Christmas decorations made their way to our living room. Life was settled and peaceful. Enter - the new kitty!

Much better...you can see how handsome I am in this photo.

Our last kitty had FIV (kitty AIDS) and a lot of issues. Her teeth were falling out and she had a chronic eye infection. Kit Kat was a territory marker from day one and our house smelled like it. In September she started peeing in our son’s bed. That was when we knew it was time to say goodbye. She passed very peacefully at the vet’s office and I cried. I missed her, despite her bad manners, and I thought about adopting a new cat. But I was worried about bringing home another cat that peed on the carpet and clawed the furniture. I also figured that a new cat would just sort of fall into my lap…these things happen to me for some reason. Two months came and went.

I gave Kit Kat a good home for as long as I could.

Last weekend I got a call from a friend needing to find a new home for a kitty. She brought him over to our house on Sunday afternoon and he’s been hiding in the basement ever since. For some reason he is afraid of our two barking, noisy, rambunctious dogs. Go figure! We are still debating on a name for this pretty grey tiger who has a little bit of a belly. I like Pudgie or maybe Bubba, but Tom just sniffed at those suggestions. He thinks Buddy is better. And Joe wants to name him Desmond the Moon Cat…’cause Joe is 19 and just a little weird, unlike his totally normal parents (ahem). Any other suggestions for kitty names?

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
