One Homemaker. One Acre. My Quest for Self Sufficiency
Around The Homestead
Photos From Around the Homestead
Potatoes and onions, all in a row.
I’ve been feeling rather under the weather for a couple of days. Since I always have photos that I like, but end up not using, you get to see some of the behind the scenes images from our homestead. What’s not to love? Besides the me being sick part, that is!
Thyme growing among self sown dill. This is one of the things I usually edit out…my plastic tool shed. I was hoping to use if for tools this year, but instead it is housing ducks and 4 chickens at night. The pea plants look so pretty up close. We butchered these two chickens and two ducks on Saturday. I wanted to butcher these Cornish x because they were having digestive issues and I felt it would be kinder to get them in the freezer earlier instead of later. This clematis was growing next to our house when we moved in. I think it might be a Nelly Moser. This pea flower looks like an alien head, to me anyway. The Egyptian Walking onions have top sets sprouting new baby onions. My sage is flowering. Usually it’s covered with bees, but I haven’t seen many this year.Broccoli Raab flower.I’ve been chopping off the tops of my little walking onions for fresh green onions.Making up some dried soup mix. You can find the recipe and more information about Egyptian Walking Onions on The Prepper Project.
I’m starting to feel better already. 🙂 I hope you’ll join us tomorrow for Wildcrafting Wednesday!
