Well I feel stupid… I have been waiting a year for my meaty girls to lay eggs. Was I surprised to read all this. I cannot bare to eat these so is there any hope for eggs?

  That is a very common mistake, so don’t feel bad. If they haven’t started laying eggs yet and they are a year old, you may not get any. I did keep one Cornish X hen and she did lay eggs…quite well, actually. But she started laying at about 5 months old. You could keep them as pets and add some egg layers to your flock. White Leghorns are a good laying breed.
