Taking Stock of My Seed Stash
I decided that before I get all dreamy eyed over my seed catalogs, I should probably go through my saved and unused seed from previous years to see what I really need for the garden this year. As you can see from the photo, I don’t really need much. After sorting all of the packets into groups and making a complete list of everything, I came to the conclusion that all I really need for my garden this year is: lettuce, spinach and radishes.
I’d like to pick up several kinds of leaf lettuce, such as the oak leaf and red and green lettuces. I really only need 1 packet of spinach and radishes. I already have some spinach, and I’m the only one who eats the radishes…so that should do it.
Of course, when I start looking at all of the different varieties and new offerings, I’m going to have trouble limiting myself to 4 or 5 packets. It never hurts to have more seeds than you really need.
