The Best French Toast I’ve Ever Made
Duck eggs make the most wonderful French toast! It has a rich, custard flavor and is so creamy and delicious, you’ll have trouble stopping after two (or three or four) slices! French Toast Recipe
You can substitute chicken eggs (or any other eggs, I suppose), but the duck eggs are what make this recipe really stand out. I use organic eggs, milk, and bread for an extra healthy breakfast.
- 4 duck eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup whole milk (I use raw milk)
- Sprinkle of cinnamon
- 6 slices bread (I like whole grain)
Beat together eggs, milk and cinnamon. Drizzle a teaspoon or two of sunflower oil (or use homemade raw butter for an extra special treat) on your griddle and heat on medium until a drop of water sizzles on the griddle. Dip a slice of bread into the egg mix and place on pan. Flip when the bottom is browned. Remove when both sides are brown and center is cooked through. Repeat with remaining slices. If there is more egg mix, use it up with another slice or two of bread.
Top your French toast with fresh fruit, yogurt, maple syrup, applesauce, or any other topping you like. Refrigerate any leftover slices. When extra French toast is completely cooled, you may freeze for later. It never lasts that long in our house. 🙂

I’ve never to my knowledge tried duck eggs, but I love French toast. I usually just add butter and brown sugar to mine.

My ducks started laying at about 5 months. I have a light on in the coop to trick them into thinking it’s spring so they will continue to lay this winter. 🙂 Best wishes with your ducks!
