Making Raw Honey Butter

My Grandma used to make honey butter for spreading on toast and biscuits. This cute honey jar was hers. I’ve always loved honey, and honey butter…there just might be a little Pooh bear in me.

And I’ve always loved butter too. I’m so glad to find out that honey and butter are not so bad for you as we once believed. In fact, they’re good for you in moderation. So why not make up a batch of honey butter to spread on your toast in the morning? And while you’re at it, make some for your friends and family too!

I like to use locally raised raw butter and raw honey. You can use those if you have them, or you can use regular…it’s up to you. The basic recipe is 1 part honey to 2 parts butter. Let your butter sit out at room temp for awhile to soften. Put in a mixing bowl with honey, whip with your hand mixer. That’s it!

Store your honey butter in the refrigerator. You may need to stir if the honey and butter start to separate.

Have you ever made honey butter?

  1. Your honey butter looks delicious! I remember when we lived on the farm we had our own bee hives. It was the best honey ever. I’m co-hosting this week with Katherine at Thursday Favorite Things. Wishing you all the best in 2013.
