Freebies for Gardeners 2018

Gardening is a great way to grow healthy foods and beautiful flowers, and provide habitat for wildlife. It’s entertaining, great exercise, and your garden can save you a bunch of money on fresh food. However, as any gardener knows, you can go way over budget when you start shelling out cash for seeds, fertilizer, tools, mulch, etc. So what’s not to love about a few garden freebies?!

Bring Back the Bees – Free Wildflower Seeds for Canadians. For US citizens, you have to buy a box of specially marked Cheerios. I can’t vouch for the quality of kind of wildflower seeds in these free packages.

Check out The Balance website for links to free plans for playhouses and dog houses, pallet projects, and garden catalogs you can order at no cost (their products aren’t free!).

Be sure to check Freecycle and the free section of Craigslist for garden supplies and plants. I have found free perennials, flower bulbs, pallets, cement blocks, tools and pots over the years. Availability in your area is completely dependent on what people are giving away!

Don’t forget to check local garage sales for inexpensive tools, plants, and pots for your gardenl
