Sure Signs of Fall & The HomeAcre Hop #90

Welcome to The HomeAcre Hop
Life on our homestead seems so bittersweet in the autumn. I dread the coming of our first frost and the end of my peppers and tomatoes. On the other hand, I really enjoy the pumpkins, fall leaves, and apples that autumn brings. I’m seeing many sure signs that autumn is really here around our homestead…

The turkeys I hatched this spring are really growing up. Here’s the oldest male showing off for the ladies! I think about Thanksgiving when I look out in the pasture. ![]()

Our flock of laying hens are slowing down, even with a light on in the coop. We gather eight to ten eggs a day from 26 or so hens. The extra eggs go to market. Soon I will need to decide who will stay and who will be made into a batch of chicken soup.
What signs of autumn do you see on your homestead?
